FORT WORTH, Texas – Radford pitcher Dylan Howard has been selected by the Houston Astros in the eighth round of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft, with the 253rd overall pick.
In the 2024 season, Howard made 14 starts on the mound for the Highlanders, and finished in the conference’s Top 10 with 69.2 innings pitched and ranked 10th with a 4.78 earned run averaged. He allowed 76 hits, 44 runs (37 earned), walked 19 — tied for the fifth-fewest in the Big South, and ranked sixth with 76 strikeouts. Howard was 3-5 with a 1.36 WHIP. He fanned 37 batters in 40.2 innings pitched in Big South games.
